Deron Williams' days as a member of the Brooklyn Nets may be numbered.
According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein and Ohm Youngmisuk, the Nets are shopping Williams along with two of their other premier players:Williams is obviously the top draw in play. The 30-year-old guard and three-time NBA All-Star is averaging 17.1 points, 6.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. Per the ESPN report, however, he's due $21 million in the 2015-16 season and $22.3 million in 2016-17 though he could opt out of the final year in his contract during the summer of 2016.
That will leave Williams with an interesting choice, as it's hard to imagine he'll garner max-level money on the market unless he plays at a very high level over the next two seasons. The Nets might prefer to free up some of that cap space for the upcoming free-agent classes, however.
Teams might be more interested in Brook Lopez, as he's the youngest of that trio. But for a team looking to add an instant impact player who can afford to absorb a large contract, Williams could be the final piece for a playoff push. If he's indeed on the market, the Nets will likely have multiple suitors.
