Johnny Manziel Placed on Injured Reserve with Hamstring Injury

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has reportedly been shut down for the remainder of the 2014 season with a hamstring injury.

The Browns' official Twitter account passed along the latest:Manziel, 22, finished his rookie season with just five games played, 175 passing yards, no passing touchdowns and two interceptions. He also compiled 29 yards on the ground with a rushing touchdown.

Despite the limited action on the field, Manziel noted how much he has grown in Cleveland, per Tom Withers of The Associated Press (via Yahoo News).

"I'm not the guy that I've always been," Manziel said. "I'm not the Johnny Manziel that came in here a year ago. It's been a year of growing up for me. ... This is a job for me now and I have to take it a lot more seriously than maybe I did at first."

However, Kevin Negandhi of ESPN offered his take on the maturation process for Manziel:Focusing on next season seems like the best opportunity for Manziel with his injury. If he can improve in the offseason, perhaps he can quell any notion of a quarterback battle prior to next year.

Heading into the final game of the season, the Browns might have to rely on Connor Shaw, who took all the reps Tuesday, per Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer.

Playing a Baltimore Ravens team desperate to make the playoffs, any quarterback would have his hands full against that defense. With Manziel down, it will be up to Shaw to try to get the team to a .500 record Sunday.
