he fact that quarterback Robert Griffin III has regressed so significantly from his rookie year in 2012 to now is a surprise to many, but perhaps nobody is more perplexed than Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder.
Snyder is "befuddled" and "confused" regarding RG3's decline, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen (via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk).
The former Baylor star and Heisman Trophy-winning signal-caller entered the league to great fanfare in 2012 and didn't disappoint. He racked up over 4,000 total yards while scoring 27 touchdowns and earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
Since tearing his ACL and LCL in a playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks that season, however, Griffin hasn't been the same.
His production has dipped in a major way over the past two years, and his record is abysmal, per NFL on ESPN:
With Griffin and the Redskins as a whole struggling in 2014, head coach Jay Gruden chose to start Colt McCoy over RG3 against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13.
After the announcement, the outspoken Griffin didn't have much to say, according to Tarik El-Bashir of CSNWashington.com:
