Zlatan Ibrahimovic's ongoing heel problem is threatening to wreck his and PSG's season, and he has now been warned by a medical expert not to expect to play every match between now and the end of the campaign.
ESPN FC's Jonathan Johnson provides the latest on Ibrahimovic's fitness status, as PSG hold their star back for the forthcoming Champions League trip to Barcelona:
Ibrahimovic is one of the most important players in Europe. The striker was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year each of the past two years for his success leading the PSG attack. Last season, he scored 41 goals in 45 matches across all competitions and is off to another terrific start.
He suffered a hamstring injury in the latter stages of the last term. The ailment forced him to miss the second leg of a Champions League quarterfinal encounter against Chelsea, which seen the Parisians' tournament run come to an end.
The Sweden international was able to return before the season came to a close. He wasn't in top form, however. While his home nation missing the World Cup was a disappointment, the extra time off did give him a chance to get back to full strength.
Now the question surrounds how long Ibrahimovic will be sidelined. PSG will hope he's able to return to full fitness relatively quickly, but more information and a potential timetable should be available after further training.
